During wood firing, the clay surfaces begin to become sticky and tacky to ask and alkalis at stoneware temperatures. This is called natural fly ash glazes that usually result in greenly color.  The significant of glaze effect is depended on the length of the firing (time to build up fly ash glaze), the atmospheres (oxidation or reduction), and the type of clays.
