4.1 Loading for Bisque Firing

Bisque Firing

Loading for Bisque Firing is comparative simple than the glaze firing. As green wares do not have a glaze so that the pots can be touched or stacked together in the firing. However, heavier or big items should never be placed on a light or small items, which may create unnecessary pressure and case the bottom pieces cracked.

Besides, the pot should not be too close to the heating elements, in general, 2-3 inches is a desirable margin. Lid with pot should also fire together. If pieces such as shallow bowls, it is advised to be stacked rim to rim or up-side-down by themselves to avoid wrapping. All green wares should be completely dried before firing.
